Home • Extractivism, Megaprojects, and Ethnoterritorial Rights
Black and indigenous collective rights are systematically undermined by violent landgrabs and the expansion of extractive industries and megaprojects in their territories. The Ethnic Chapter includes specific provisions that should guarantee the self-determination, autonomy, and self-governance of communities. This group will take a broad approach to interpreting the threats by including both licit and illicit forms of extractivism and dispossession. Additionally, the group will develop tools and resources for supporting both legal struggles (e.g. FPICC, lawsuits, international institutions, etc.) and other forms of resistance (e.g. Minga, direct actions, etc.).
